Hi, I'm Carlotta🌸
PhD student in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Trento.
I hold an MSc in Artificial Intelligence Systems from DISI (University of Trento) and a BSc in Statistics from the University of Milano-Bicocca, and I worked as a research intern at FBK on foundation models for Earth Observation.
About
I'm a PhD student in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Trento. My research focuses on Human–AI Collaboration, with the goal of designing principled frameworks to effectively integrate human expertise into AI systems. In particular, I work on decision-making under uncertainty, including learning to defer, double robust estimation, and conformal prediction. My objective is to develop reliable and statistically grounded methods that enable AI models and human experts to collaborate in a complementary and accountable way.

Argumentative Analysis of Legal Rulings: A Structured Framework Using Bobbitt’s Typology
Proceedings of the 12th Argument Mining Workshop (ArgMining 2025), Association for Computational Linguistics, Vienna.
We propose a structured framework for AI-assisted legal reasoning that uses GPT-4o to identify argumentative units in rulings of the Italian Court of Cassation and classify them according to Bobbitt’s six constitutional modalities of legal reasoning. Our findings show that LLM-based tools can effectively support and streamline legal practice (e.g., by preprocessing decisions and organizing arguments), while still leaving substantial room for improvement in human–AI collaboration.
